The Kucinich Amendment

Congressman Dennis Kucinich of Ohio has proposed a Constitutional amendment that would forbid virtually all spending on federal elections, and would thus get the money out of politics to some extent.  And until we do get the money out of politics, the government is not ours.  Someone said, "The government is not broken; it's fixed!"  It is H.J. Res 100.  Call your congressman at 202-224-3121.

  1. When can we read the full text of the Kucinich resolution? How does it interface with all the current proposals to amend the Constitution to clarify that corporations are not entitled to free speech as it pertains to money spent on electioneering? Do we need both?

  2. If you scroll up 3 posts to "How To Stop Campaign Spending," you'll find the whole text. It seems to me that it forbids any spending "in support of" candidates and that would cover the big PAC buys. I know there are other amendment drafts out there, but that can be worked out. Thanks for your comment. Walter Ebmeyer.
