We want a "peace economy" that creates jobs, invests in our communities, restores and improves public services, saves the environment, and builds the infrastucture. This was the opening of yesterday's Bill Moyers program, a powerful, touching essay on the events at Sandy Hook and our responses to them. History teaches us that the push for gun control runs out of steam fairly quickly, and that if we hope to get something done, we must keep our grief and outrage alive at least until Vice President Biden's commission reports at the end of January.
